According to Morning Star News, a Christian persecution news organization, a 20-year-old woman in Somalia was reportedly beaten and confined in her home by her Muslim uncle after converting to Christianity.
Sources said that she was also deprived of adequate food and water, had become visibly thin and pale, and was in concerning physical condition.
The report said that the woman, using the pseudonym Mariam Fatuma, had been living with her uncle after her parents separated. The situation reportedly began after her uncle’s daughter discovered that she was praying in the name of Christ, after which her family learned about her Christian faith.
Members of an underground church in the area said that her most urgent needs include personal safety, adequate food and water, medical assistance, and protection from further violence and unlawful confinement.
