📖 Bible Story: Elisha and the Invisible Army
Scripture: 2 Kings 6:8–23

After the miracle of the floating axe head, the king of Aram was at war with Israel. Whenever he planned a military attack, the prophet Elisha would warn the king of Israel, and the Israelites would avoid the danger.

The king of Aram became frustrated. He thought there must be a spy in his own camp.

But one of his servants said:

“None of us is a traitor. Elisha, the prophet in Israel, tells the king of Israel even the words you speak in your bedroom.”

Determined to capture Elisha, the king sent horses, chariots, and a large army to the city of Dothan, where Elisha was staying.

They arrived during the night and surrounded the city.

Early the next morning, Elisha’s servant went outside and saw the enemy forces everywhere.

Terrified, he cried:

“Oh, my lord, what shall we do?”

Elisha answered calmly:

“Do not be afraid. Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

Then Elisha prayed:

“Lord, open his eyes so that he may see.”

God answered the prayer.

The servant suddenly saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire surrounding Elisha—God’s heavenly army protecting His prophet.

As the Aramean soldiers approached, Elisha prayed again, asking God to strike them with blindness. The Lord did so.

Elisha then led the confused army into Samaria, the capital of Israel.

Once they arrived, Elisha prayed that their sight would be restored. When their eyes were opened, they realized they were surrounded by Israel’s forces.

The king of Israel asked Elisha if he should kill them.

Elisha said no.

Instead, he instructed the king to prepare a great feast for them.

After they had eaten and drunk, they were sent home in peace.

As a result, the Aramean raiding parties stopped attacking Israel for a time.
