\nAfter Solomon died, his son Rehoboam was going to succeed him as king.<\/p>\n
\u90a3\u65f6\u5019\uff0c\u4ee5\u8272\u5217\u7684\u8001\u767e\u59d3\u90fd\u805a\u96c6\u5230\u793a\u5251\uff0c\u51c6\u5907\u62e5\u7acb\u7f57\u6ce2\u5b89\u505a\u738b\u3002
\nAt that time, all the people of Israel gathered at Shechem, preparing to make Rehoboam king.<\/p>\n

\nAfter hearing this, Rehoboam said:<\/p>\n

\n\u201cGo back for now, and come back to me in three days. Then I will tell you what I will do.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u767e\u59d3\u5c31\u56de\u53bb\u4e86\u3002
\nSo the people went away.<\/p>\n
\u7f57\u6ce2\u5b89\u5148\u53bb\u95ee\u4e86\u90a3\u4e9b\u4ee5\u524d\u8ddf\u7740\u6240\u7f57\u95e8\u3001\u5f88\u6709\u7ecf\u9a8c\u7684\u8001\u81e3\u3002
\nRehoboam first went to ask the experienced elders who had served with Solomon.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cKing, if you are willing today to humble yourself and serve these people like a servant, speak kindly to them, and let them know that you are helping them, then they will remain loyal to you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nThat was actually very good advice.<\/p>\n

\nBut Rehoboam did not listen.<\/p>\n

\nRehoboam then turned and asked his companions who had grown up with him:<\/p>\n

\n\u201cWhat do you think I should say to these people?\u201d<\/p>\n

\nThe young men said to Rehoboam:<\/p>\n
\u201c\u4f60\u5343\u4e07\u4e0d\u80fd\u8ba9\u4ed6\u4eec\u89c9\u5f97\u4f60\u597d\u6b3a\u8d1f\uff01
\n\u201cYou must never let them think you are easy to push around!<\/p>\n
\u4f60\u5c31\u544a\u8bc9\u4ed6\u4eec\uff1a
\nJust tell them:<\/p>\n
\u2018\u6211\u7236\u4eb2\u8ba9\u4f60\u4eec\u5e72\u91cd\u6d3b\uff0c\u6211\u8fd8\u8981\u8ba9\u4f60\u4eec\u5e72\u5f97\u66f4\u91cd\u3002

\n\u201cDon\u2019t be soft. Give them a warning and let them know who the king is.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u7f57\u6ce2\u5b89\u542c\u4e86\u4ee5\u540e\uff0c\u89c9\u5f97\u8fd9\u4e2a\u4e3b\u610f\u6700\u597d\u3002
\nAfter hearing this, Rehoboam thought this was the best advice.<\/p>\n

\nThree days later, Jeroboam and the people came back to see Rehoboam.<\/p>\n

\nRehoboam did not listen to the elders. Instead, he spoke very harshly to the people:<\/p>\n

\nWhen the people heard this, they were completely disappointed.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cThis is terrible. This king does not care about us at all. He wants to make our lives even harder!\u201d<\/p>\n
\u4e8e\u662f\u4ed6\u4eec\u76f4\u63a5\u5bf9\u7f57\u6ce2\u5b89\u8bf4\uff1a
\nSo they said directly to Rehoboam:<\/p>\n
\u201c\u6211\u4eec\u8ddf\u5927\u536b\u5bb6\u8fd8\u6709\u4ec0\u4e48\u5173\u7cfb\uff1f
\n\u201cWhat do we have to do with the house of David?<\/p>\n
\u6211\u4eec\u8ddf\u8036\u897f\u7684\u513f\u5b50\u4e5f\u6ca1\u4ec0\u4e48\u5173\u7cfb\uff01
\nWe have nothing to do with the son of Jesse!<\/p>\n
\u4ee5\u8272\u5217\u4eba\uff0c\u56de\u81ea\u5df1\u7684\u5bb6\u5427\uff01
\nPeople of Israel, go back to your own homes!<\/p>\n
\u5927\u536b\u5bb6\uff0c\u4f60\u81ea\u5df1\u7ba1\u81ea\u5df1\u5427\uff01\u201d
\nHouse of David, take care of yourself!\u201d<\/p>\n
\u4ece\u8fd9\u4e00\u523b\u5f00\u59cb\uff0c\u4ee5\u8272\u5217\u738b\u56fd\u5c31\u5206\u88c2\u4e86\u3002
\nFrom that moment on, the kingdom of Israel was divided.<\/p>\n
\u7f57\u6ce2\u5b89\u8fd8\u4e0d\u670d\u6c14\u3002
\nRehoboam still refused to accept it.<\/p>\n
\u4ed6\u6d3e\u8d1f\u8d23\u7ba1\u7406\u82e6\u5de5\u7684\u4e9a\u591a\u5170\u53bb\u627e\u4ee5\u8272\u5217\u4eba\u3002
\nHe sent Adoniram, who was in charge of the forced labor, to go to the Israelites.<\/p>\n

\nBut the people stoned Adoniram to death.<\/p>\n
\u7f57\u6ce2\u5b89\u4e00\u770b\u60c5\u51b5\u4e0d\u5bf9\uff0c\u8d76\u7d27\u5750\u8f66\u9003\u56de\u8036\u8def\u6492\u51b7\u3002
\nWhen Rehoboam saw that things had gone badly, he quickly got into his chariot and fled back to Jerusalem.<\/p>\n
\u4e8e\u662f\uff0c\u4ee5\u8272\u5217\u5317\u65b9\u7684\u652f\u6d3e\u5c31\u4e0d\u518d\u542c\u4ece\u5927\u536b\u5bb6\u3002
\nSo the northern tribes of Israel no longer followed the house of David.<\/p>\n
\u72b9\u5927\u652f\u6d3e\u4ecd\u7136\u8ddf\u7740\u7f57\u6ce2\u5b89\uff0c\u4fbf\u96c5\u60af\u652f\u6d3e\u4e5f\u4e0e\u72b9\u5927\u7ad9\u5728\u4e00\u8d77\u3002
\nThe tribe of Judah continued to follow Rehoboam, and the tribe of Benjamin also stood with Judah.<\/p>\n
\u800c\u5176\u4ed6\u4ee5\u8272\u5217\u4eba\u5c31\u62e5\u7acb\u8036\u7f57\u6ce2\u5b89\u505a\u738b\u3002
\nThe rest of the Israelites made Jeroboam their king.<\/p>\n
\u6240\u4ee5\uff0c\u4ece\u90a3\u5f00\u59cb\uff1a
\nSo from that time on:<\/p>\n
\u5357\u8fb9\uff1a\u72b9\u5927\u56fd\u2014\u2014\u7f57\u6ce2\u5b89\u4f5c\u738b\u3002
\nThe southern kingdom: Judah \u2014 Rehoboam was king.<\/p>\n

\nThe northern kingdom: Israel \u2014 Jeroboam was king.<\/p>\n
\u7f57\u6ce2\u5b89\u4e0d\u7518\u5fc3\u3002
\nRehoboam was not willing to accept this.<\/p>\n
\u4ed6\u53ec\u96c6\u72b9\u5927\u548c\u4fbf\u96c5\u60af\u7684\u519b\u961f\uff0c\u4e00\u5171\u5341\u516b\u4e07\u7cbe\u5175\uff0c\u51c6\u5907\u53bb\u653b\u6253\u4ee5\u8272\u5217\uff0c\u628a\u6574\u4e2a\u56fd\u5bb6\u91cd\u65b0\u593a\u56de\u6765\u3002
\nHe gathered the armies of Judah and Benjamin, a total of 180,000 fighting men, and prepared to attack Israel and take the whole kingdom back.<\/p>\n
\u4f46\u662f\u795e\u6d3e\u795e\u4eba\u793a\u739b\u96c5\u544a\u8bc9\u7f57\u6ce2\u5b89\uff1a
\nBut God sent the man of God Shemaiah to tell Rehoboam:<\/p>\n
\u201c\u4f60\u4eec\u4e0d\u8981\u53bb\u8ddf\u81ea\u5df1\u7684\u5f1f\u5144\u4ee5\u8272\u5217\u4eba\u6253\u4ed7\u3002
\n\u201cDo not go and fight against your brothers, the Israelites.<\/p>\n

\nGo back to your homes!<\/p>\n
\u56e0\u4e3a\u8fd9\u4e8b\u51fa\u4e8e\u6211\u3002\u201d
\nFor this thing is from Me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nAfter Rehoboam and the people heard the word of God, they did not continue the war, but went back home.<\/p>\n

\nAfter Jeroboam became king of the northern kingdom, he began to think:<\/p>\n

\n\u201cIf the people continue going to Jerusalem to worship God, little by little they will support Rehoboam again.<\/p>\n

\nSo he made two golden calves.<\/p>\n
