Baptism is one of the most meaningful steps in a Christian’s journey. What Is Baptism?<\/h4>

Baptism is an outward declaration of an inward faith in Jesus Christ.<\/strong><\/p>

When a person is baptized, they publicly declare that they have trusted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Baptism does not save us; rather, it is an act of obedience that follows salvation through faith in Christ.<\/p>

Baptism symbolizes our union with Jesus Christ\u2014His death, burial, and resurrection. As we are immersed in water and raised again, we proclaim that our old life has passed away and that we have been made new in Christ.<\/p>

It is a joyful testimony of God’s grace and a public commitment to follow Jesus for the rest of our lives.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Why Be Baptized?<\/h4>

Jesus Himself commanded His followers to be baptized.<\/p>

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”<\/strong>

On the Day of Pentecost, when people believed the gospel, Peter called them to respond in faith through repentance and baptism.<\/p>

“Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”<\/strong>

Who Should Be Baptized?<\/h4>

According to the Bible, baptism is for those who have personally placed their faith in Jesus Christ.<\/p>

\u2705 You believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God.<\/p>

\u2705 You have repented of your sins.<\/p>

\u2705 You have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior.<\/p>

\u2705 You desire to follow Him in obedience.<\/p>

Common Questions<\/h4>\n

1. Does baptism save me?<\/strong><\/p>\n

No. Salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8\u20139). Baptism is an act of obedience that follows salvation.<\/p>\n

2. Do I have to be baptized immediately?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The New Testament shows that many believers were baptized soon after coming to faith. We encourage you to understand the meaning of baptism and take this step when you are ready.<\/p>\n

3. What if I was baptized as a baby?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Different Christian traditions understand infant baptism differently. FaithLoop encourages everyone to prayerfully study Scripture and seek God’s guidance. If you have questions about your previous baptism, we’d be happy to talk with you.<\/p>\n
